Hexamine or urotropin, is a heterocyclic organic compound with the formula C6H12N4 .It appears as white crystalline compound and it is highly soluble in water and polar organic solvents. Uses:
- It can be used as a curing agent for resins and plastics, the vulcunization accelrator of rubber and textile shrink proof agent.
- It can also be used for making antimicrobial drug explosives and so on. As medicine, after oral administration, It can be decomposed when coming accros acidic urine to generate formaldehye and exerts its antibacterial effect used for treating mild urinary tract infection; it can be extremely used for treating ringworm, antiperspirants, and treatment of undrarm odor. Its beingmixed with caustic soda sodium phenol can be used as the phosgene absorber of gas masks. It can be used as a kind of anti-microbial agent.
- It can be used as antishrinking textile finishing agent, bleaching agent of sodium chlorite and the buffer of waterproffing agent
- Hexamethylenetetramine is mainly used as the curing agent of plastic and resin, the catylist and foaming agent of aminoplast, rubber vulcunization accelerator and the shrink proof agent of textiles.

HEXAMINE APPLICATIONS
Hexamine is used in the rubber industry to prevent vulcanized rubber from blocking and as an accelerator.
It has its uses as a curing agent for thermosetting resins (particularly phenyl-formaldehyde and urea-formaldehyde resins.
It is also used as a food additive as a preservative (INS number 239).
Hexamine is used in the production of nitrilotriacetic acid and in the manufacture of adhesives and coatings.
Hexamine also has its contribution in pharmaceuticals especially for intestinal infection.
