Dimethyl Acetamide is a colorless liquid with a faint ammonia-like odor. It is used as a solvent for plastics, resins and gums. * Dimethyl Acetamide is on the Hazardous Substance List because it is regulated by OSHA and cited by ACGIH, NIOSH and NFPA.
DMAC is primarily used as an industrial solvent and intermediate in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, agrochemicals, polymers, and resins. It is also used as a spinning solvent in the production of fibers of various polymers, including acrylic, polyurethane, polyurea copolymer, and meta-aramid.
N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) is a clear oily liquid miscible in all proportion with water; melting point -20 C, boiling point 165 C at 1013 hPa. It is dissolved in most of organic solvents including alcohols, ethers, ketones, chlorinated and aromatic solvents except aliphatic hydrocarbons.
