N-Iodosuccinimide. N-Iodosuccinimide (NIS) is an iodinating agent that is used for various electrophilic iodinations and as source for iodine in radical reactions. Because of the popularity of coupling reactions, iodoarenes have become increasingly important in organic synthesis.

Note

NIS is the iodine analog of N-chlorosuccinimide (NCS) and N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) which are used for similar applications.

N-Iodosuccinimide (NIS) is a reagent used in organic chemistry for the iodination of alkenes and as a mild oxidant.
