Diethanolamine is a member of the class of ethanolamines that is ethanolamine having a N-hydroxyethyl substituent. It has a role as a human xenobiotic metabolite. It derives from an ethanolamine.

APPLICATION : Diethanolamine is a white, crystalline (sand-like) solid or a colorless to yellow, syrupy liquid with a mild Ammonia-like odor. It is used in specialty textiles, weed killers, detergents, shampoos, paints and metal-working fluids.

Diethanolamine is used in metalworking fluids for cutting, stamping and die-casting operations as a corrosion inhibitor.
