Note

CaBr2 is not a basic salt. It is a neutral salt as it is formed by the reaction of a strong acid and a strong base which results in formation of a salt which is neutral. The strong acid HBr is used to synthesize CaBr2.

It is mainly used as dense aqueous solutions for drilling fluids.[1] It is also used in neuroses medication, freezing mixtures, food preservatives, photography and fire retardants

Calciumbromide, CaBr2, is a colorless crystalline solid with a melting point of 765°C. It is deliquescent and is soluble in water and absolute alcohol.
