Sodum bisulphite appears as white crystals or crystalline powder. Slight sulphurous odor. Specific gravity 1.48. 

Chemically, sodium bisulfite is a combination of sodium, hydrogen, sulfur and oxygen.

It is also called sodium hydrogen sulfite, and is classed as a sulfite, or sulfur-based chemical.

Its natural form is a white crystalline powder, but turns yellow in solution.

Wright's stain is a histology stain that facilitates the differentiation of blood cell types. It is primarily used for the initial evaluation to differentiate nuclear and/or cytoplasmic morphology of platelets, RBCs, WBCs for diagnosis, (size,form and content) and examined under microscope .

The main application of sodium chlorite is the generation of chlorine dioxide for bleaching and stripping of textiles, pulp, and paper. It is also used for disinfection of municipal water treatment plants after conversion to chlorine dioxide.
